Driving AI Innovation & Earning Top Honors at the World Procurement Congress 2025

The World Procurement Congress 2025, held at London’s InterContinental O2 from May 13-15, brought together the global procurement community for three days of learning, collaboration, and celebration. This year’s theme – how procurement can amplify productivity while fueling growth – set the stage for a rich agenda of content sessions, networking, and recognition of excellence across the industry. ORO Labs was proud to sponsor, participate, and be recognized as a leader in procurement technology at this landmark event.

Leading the Conversation on AI in Procurement

Our experience at the Congress began on Day Zero, May 13, as one of the exclusive sponsors of the AI Day. This dedicated forum explored how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of procurement, moving from isolated use cases to embedded, practical uses that are driving organizational change. ORO led multiple round table discussions focused on developing a robust business case for AI in procurement.

Guided by ORO’s own Lance Younger and Sabih Rozales, and joined by Roche’s Martin Ward, the intimate, small group sessions tackled the end-to-end journey of AI-adoption:

  • Understanding the Evolving Landscape: Guests mapped out the latest trends and technologies, examining how AI is being scaled within leading procurement teams.
  • Prioritizing Us Cases: Attendees debated which procurement challenges are best suited for AI intervention, from automating workflows to supplier management.
  • Implementation Costs and ROI: Roundtables delved into the reality of budgeting for AI, including hidden costs, change management, and measuring returns.

The energy and engagement in these sessions reflected a shared recognition: AI is no longer a future ambition, but a present imperative for procurement leaders seeking to drive efficiency, resilience, and value.

The Voice of Procurement Leaders: Insights from the Floor

Throughout the two-days of the main event, ORO hosted a bustling booth, connecting with hundreds of procurement professionals from around the world. These conversations provided invaluable insight into the current pain points and aspirations shaping change in the industry. Attendees candidly shared their top challenges and the use cases they are working to solve, including:

  • Managing complexity in purchasing and sourcing processes
  • Handling thousands of users and multiple ERP instances
  • Integrating data across systems and building clean data lakes
  • Streamlining end-to-end supplier management
  • Automating workflows to empower and enable users
  • Assessing AI readiness and the power of agentic

These challenges underscore the complexity of modern procurement and the urgent need for flexible, AI-driven solutions that can orchestrate people, processes, and technology – seamlessly.
